Rags Davloor Appointed Board Chair of The National Ballet of Canada

Cornell Wright Completes Term

25 octobre, 2023… Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, and Barry Hughson, Executive Director, today announced Rags Davloor is appointed as new Board Chair of The National Ballet of Canada. Cornell Wright completes his term as Board Chair. The announcement was made at the Annual General Meeting which was held today at 18:30 at The Walter Carsen Centre for The National Ballet of Canada in Toronto. 

“The 2022/23 season marked an important milestone for me personally, as I complete my tenure as Chair of the Board of Directors. The company grew and changed continually during my six years as Chair – always aspiring to greater artistry, innovation, impact, and reach. I’m honoured to have been part of this process, working alongside Hope Muir, Karen Kain, Barry Hughson and the committed members of our Board,” said Wright. 

“I am extremely honoured and humbled to take over from Cornell as Chair. He has done an amazing job shepherding The National Ballet of Canada through a very challenging period while the organization dealt with COVID,” said Davloor. “In addition, Cornell has provided strong leadership overseeing the transition to a new Artistic Director and Co-CEO with the appointment of Hope Muir in janvier 2022. We are fortunate, under the leadership of Cornell, Barry and Hope, to have a strong world class organization with an incredible group of dancers. I look forward to working with the Board and Management moving forward.” 

“I would like to thank Cornell for his steadfast commitment to the National Ballet and unfailing leadership these past six seasons. During the pandemic, we faced immense challenges together and have emerged on the other side in a healthy position,” said Hughson. “We extend a warm welcome to incoming Board Chair Rags Davloor. Rags has been an engaged member of The National Ballet of Canada Board since 2019 and brings a wealth of experience and energy to his new role as Chair.” 

Prior to joining The National Ballet of Canada Board, Davloor served as a Director & Vice-Chair of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra Board for eight years. He also serves on the Board of Sunnybrook Hospital and Sunnybrook Foundation and is Chair of the Board of the Tridel Group of Operation entities. Davloor also has an Institute of Corporate Directors, Director designation.  Currently, he is Chief Financial Officer, Primaris REIT, a position he assumed in 2021. Prior to joining Primaris, Davloor held various positions at RioCan REIT, including four years as President & Chief Operating Officer and six years as Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Secretary.
