The National Ballet of Canada’s mission is to perform classical and contemporary ballet at the highest level, presenting a diverse range of repertoire to inspire a wide audience at home, in the community, on tour and through online programming.

The National Ballet of Canada is a site of creativity with a focus to attract, nurture and retain the most talented dancers and Orchestra members. Our vision is to create an environment where all artists flourish and have many opportunities for professional growth at all levels, including up and coming artists through our Artist Development Programmes.

The National Ballet of Canada celebrates all forms and styles of dance. We are proud to engage the community by sharing ballet outside of our theatre and by collaborating with other professionals in Canada's dance scene. Our education programmes are designed for children and students to be exposed to ballet and nurture an appreciation for dance. We also affirm that dance is for everyone and is a wonderful way to explore movement, creative expression, imagination and collaboration.

The National Ballet of Canada understands that there have been barriers to access in ballet. We wish to ensure that everyone feels welcome, invited and included in our work onstage, behind the scenes and in the community. Our programmes range from in-school initiatives, welcoming newcomers, inclusive ticket pricing programmes and performances and events for individuals with special needs.

To advance the art form, The National Ballet of Canada commissions Canadian and international choreographers, composers and designers to create new works. As such, the company maintains a world-class reputation for innovation and storytelling, provides opportunities for artists and attracts new audiences.

To promote Canadian artistry, we strive to showcase our talent and creativity on the world stage through tours and livestreaming. In the past few years, The National Ballet of Canada has received acclaim for tours to London, Paris, Hamburg, Washington, D.C. New York City and Ottawa.
