Alexander Skinner was born in Ottawa, Ontario and trained at The School of Dance in Ottawa, Ontario and Canada’s National Ballet School. Alexander joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2017 and became a member of the Corps de Ballet in 2018.
Alexander recently made his debut as Guy Glover in Frame by Frame, Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet and danced in the Canadian premiere of Alonzo King’s The Collective Agreement. His repertoire includes Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Giselle, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Cinderella, The Winter’s Tale, Nijinsky, Anna Karenina, The Merry Widow, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Dream, The Second Detail, MADDADDAM, Chroma, Emergence, Angels’ Atlas, Elite Syncopations, Concerto, Symphony in C, Etudes, Chaconne, Marguerite and Armand, Alleged Dances, Being and Nothingness, The Dreamers Ever Leave You, Orpheus Alive, Night, On Solid Ground, 4 for 5 and as seen from before.
Alexander was awarded the RBC Emerging Artist Award in 2018, the David Tory Award in 2020 and the Patron Award of Merit in 2021.
