Avie Bennett, C.C.

It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our cherished friend Avie Bennett. Real estate developer, philanthropist, and passionate champion of the arts in Canada, Avie’s influence on the cultural life of our country cannot be overstated. A longstanding member of our Board of Directors from 1984 to 1994 and an extraordinarily generous patron, Avie and his wife Beverly have been trusted partners in the National Ballet’s artistic journey. Avie’s unwavering commitment has enabled the National Ballet to bring numerous new creations to the stage, delighting audiences, inspiring our dancers and advancing our art form. An unassuming altruist, Avie was nevertheless a giant amongst us whose leadership challenged all of us to strive for excellence and give generously of ourselves. We will miss him dearly.
